Who Is Human?
Humans are the most noble and most
perfect creatures created by Allah SWT, as Allah SWT said in the Qur'an
"And indeed we have glorified the children of Adam" (Surah Al-Isra:
70)
In addition, humans are also
sentient beings who are blessed by Allah SWT mind and mind, humans have known
since ancient times that they are creatures that can speak, but when scientists
discovered that all living things can speak with their respective languages,
then that definition transformed, which was originally a human being who can
talk, becomes human: a creature that is intelligent. Because, humans are the
only creatures created by Allah SWT who have been granted the potential of
reason by Allah SWT, which makes humans the most offensive and noble creatures
on this earth, besides that humans are also the only living beings who are
blessed with spirits by Allah SWT .
Allah SWT says in the Qur'an which
means: "Verily, we have revealed the message to the heavens, the earth,
the mountains, then all are reluctant to assume that mandate and they are
worried that they will betray it, and that mandate will be borne by humans.
very wrong and ignorant "(Surah Al-Ahdzab, 72)
The mandate given to humans is
reason and the mandate to carry out obligations from Allah SWT. So humans are the
only living things that are burdened with the obligation to obey and obey Allah
and His Messenger. For this reason, Allah SWT provides the power of reason to
distinguish between what is wrong and what is right, what is good and what is
bad.
So humans are intelligent living
beings, humans are given by Allah SWT the ability to be able to learn and
develop all kinds of knowledge, that's why human science will continue to grow
from time to time. As knowledge develops by humans, the smarter they can get all
the questions in life they can answer, but there is one question that cannot be
answered by humans themselves, and strangely that question is something that is
closest to humans itself, which is about himself.
A biologist revealed:
Humans are as performers, and
sometimes as spectators in theatrical plays of world life, humans themselves
are the greatest wonders of the world.
Man does not know the nature of
himself, and only knows a little of the secrets of world life that surround him.
Humans have limitations in
thinking, interpreting, and imagining, and himself is an inseparable part of
life that he wants to know its nature.
Maybe humans already know some of
the secrets of the creation of his body, but where is the mind and spirit? And
what is the nature of both? they are completely ignorant of both.
So, no scientist can answer the
question "who is human really ??"
Since the past century, scientists
have tried to answer this question, until Dr. Alexis Carerel (1973-1944), a
French surgeon who did an in-depth study of human nature, but he was unable to
understand it exactly like other scientists who were also unable to understand
it. In the end he wrote a book, if translated titled "Humans, unknown
creatures". In the book he outlines:
"Man did not recognize himself
and did not visit him until several centuries. Even this moment we do not know
our true nature as human beings, except for knowledge as is known by a
primitive ".
"We have been able to assemble
various objects and we already know everything that exists on this earth,
except ourselves. Every human being contains mysterious things. "
One scientist said, "our
ignorance about humans will continue forever"
Allah SWT tells his servants in His
Word which means: "And verily We have created man and know what his heart
whispers, and We are closer to him than his jugular vein" (QS. Qaaf: 16)
Is there anyone among us who
refutes the word of Allah SWT that says "And actually we created
man", then said to him, no! I created man.
There will never be one of us who
disputes Allah SWT about this, Now, if a problem is not indisputable, then the
problem is resolved. As long as Allah SWT created mankind, we will surely discover
the secrets of human creation in His book, the Qur'an, and also the revelations
delivered to His Messenger, the Hadith of the Prophet SAW.
In this verse Allah SWT said
"And we know what is whispered by his heart". The whisper in this
verse means the whisper of a human heart that is not expressed through word of
mouth, or with other body language.
In the above verse Allah SWT also
said "And We are closer to him than his jugular vein". In other
words, Allah is closer to humans than humans themselves.
We all can certainly find out who
the human being really is if we meditate on the verses of the Qur'an, the book
of God the creator of man, then the definition of man is: "man as a living
being with understanding; no physical form; are eternal - cannot die - because
of the eternal spirit; and not limited by time ".
Humans are not physical, physical
is human body. So which one is called human ??
A true human being is a human
identity that is always conscious, intelligent, alive, eternal, and is non-physical.
When this physical, non-physical identity is desired by Allah SWT to live in
this world, then Allah SWT also gives him physical vehicles, which are suitable
to the terrain conditions and environmental conditions in this world.
And if the physical tangible
material dies, the body returns to the ground, the origin of its creator.
Because he is the land that will return to the land.
It could be that if someone asks:
"But Allah SWT says about humans" He created man from a lump of land
"(Surah Al-Alaq: 2) and He also said" and Who started the creation of
humans from the ground "(QS. As - Prayers: 7). Now, don't these two verses
show that humans are physically created from a clot of blood and soil ??
So the answer is: absolutely not,
humans have never been created from a clot of blood or dry soil or clay. Only
human bodies are created from the dry earth of this earth, and also water, then
the mixture of dry soil and water becomes clay. The Qur'anic verse actually
only expresses a partial thing, namely "human body" by mentioning the
more universal word, "human". This is a great literary language. So
Allah SWT says about the human body using the word "human", while the
word "body" itself is omitted.
While the word of Allah SWT which
means: "He created man with a clot of blood" (Surah Al-Alaq: 2).
Means Allah SWT created a human body from a clot of blood.
So the word of Allah SWT "And
verily We have created man from an essence (derived) from the land" (Surah
Al-Mu'minun: 12). The meaning is that Allah created the human body from the
essence of the soil; since there is the word "body" omitted in the
verse.
To a friend, the Messenger of Allāh
SA said: "Your body has the right that you must exert". This hadith
implies that man is not his body. Man is a being, while his body is another
creature; the body has rights that must be fulfilled by the human being.
The hadith of the Prophet SAW
mentions the nature of humans as non-physical beings who are intelligent,
living and residing in the body. This is the scientific nature that was only
discovered by contemporary scholars after they pondered the meaning of the verses
of the Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet SAW.
Humans can only know the essence of
their own creation if they recognize their true identity, which consists of
soul, mind, and spirit, these are the three non-physical potentials that make
up the true human, which are then arranged and resided in physical tangible
material, namely the human body that lives in this world.
Human nature has never crossed the
minds of people and scientists in ancient times, while the Qur'an and the
Hadith of the Prophet SAW have explained it in a gambling manner, as in the
words and hadith of the Prophet that was written above earlier. Allah SWT also
said: "O people, what has empowered you (disobedient) towards your
merciful God. Who created you then perfects your events and makes your body
structure balanced. In whatever form He wills, He arranges your body
"(Surah Al-Infithar 6-8)
The meaning of these verses is that
Allah (SWT) is speaking to people "O people, what is it that makes you
deceived and makes you act towards Me? Though I am the one who created you in
the best and most perfect form by giving you soul, spirit and reason; then I
made your creation riding a physical nature that is material, in the form of a
human body that seems to be according to my will ".
That is why human bodies differ
from one another, both the color of their skin and body shape, according to the
will and wisdom of Allah SWT.
In the book of the Tafsir of Ruh
Al-Ma'ani, Imam Al-Alusy interprets the meaning of the word of Allah SWT
"In whatever form He wishes, He arranges your body". He said,
"Allah SWT makes you ride on a body, that is the physicality desired by
Him, each of which has a different posture, such as height or shortness, and
also the color of his skin.
Thus the commentators of the past
know the nature of human creation which is an identity consisting of soul,
spirit, and reason; which is then given a physical vehicle that is material,
namely the human body. Well, for scientists to know who human identity really
is, they must know the nature of the soul, spirit, and reason first.
